Induction

Induction needs magnetic cookware, and error codes often come from a pan that is too small or off-centre. Real faults are the generator board or a cooling fan, and that is technician work because the boards carry high voltage.

What you can safely check first

1. Turn every control off and let the cooktop cool.
2. Lift off grates and caps and clean the burner ports with a straight pin or a soft brush. Do not use a toothpick, which breaks off in the port.
3. Dry everything fully before putting it back, and make sure each cap sits flat and in the right position.
4. On electric models, check the breaker and the plug on coil elements.
5. On glass tops, wipe off sugar spills carefully while cool, and try a flat, clean-bottomed pan.
