Wolf in one paragraph
Wolf makes cooking appliances: ranges, cooktops and wall ovens. It is part of Sub-Zero Group, which bought the domestic appliance line of Wolf Range Corporation, a California maker of professional-style ranges, in 2000. If you also have a built-in Sub-Zero, see our Sub-Zero repair page. This page covers Wolf repair for kitchens in West Sacramento, Sacramento and nearby.
Find the rating plate first
Wolf’s own guide says the rating plate on dual fuel, induction and gas ranges is at the bottom of the control panel on the far right, and you need to open the oven door to read it. On R Series gas ranges and sealed burner rangetops it sits on the left side wall of the burner box, under the left burner pan. On wall ovens the tag is near the bottom trim on the left (M Series) or below the control panel on the right (L Series). The range must be cold before you reach in.
Problems and likely causes
| What you see | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Burner clicks but will not light | Wet or dirty igniter or burner ports, or a failed igniter or spark module |
| Burner lights, then goes out | Dirty flame sensor area, or misaligned burner cap |
| Oven will not reach temperature | Failed bake igniter or element, or a bad temperature sensor |
| Oven runs hot or cold | Sensor drift, or a control fault |
| Convection fan noisy | Worn fan motor or something loose behind the fan cover |
Safe tests you can do
- Take off the grates and burner caps, then dry the burner and check that each cap sits level.
- Wipe spilled food from around the igniter with a damp cloth when the range is cold.
- Try each burner in turn. If only one burner fails, the cause is usually that burner. If all fail, think power or a spark module.
If you smell gas, leave the house, avoid switches and flames, and call the gas utility. We do not advise DIY work on gas lines or valves, and we never bypass safety thermostats or fuses.
What a Wolf visit looks like
Dual-fuel ranges combine gas burners with an electric oven, so the visit can involve both gas and electrical checks. We bring schematics and a stocked van, and many repairs are finished on the day. Our range and stove repair and oven repair pages cover the general approach.
Good wolf repair starts with the exact model and what the oven did last. Note whether the problem is on a particular burner or in the oven cavity and give us that when you book.
Booking Wolf repair
For Wolf repair, tell us the range or oven type, which burner or oven function fails, and whether you smell gas. Wolf repair visits on dual-fuel ranges can involve gas and electrical checks, so please keep the area around the range clear. Photograph the rating plate once the range is cold. Good notes make a Wolf repair faster, because we can bring the igniter, sensor or module that matches your model.
We are an independent repair company, not affiliated with or authorized by Wolf. Brand names are used only to say which appliances we repair.
If one of these sounds like your appliance, you can book a visit or call us. The service call is $80, and the repair price is quoted after our technician has looked at the appliance.

Wolf questions
Why does my Wolf burner keep clicking?+
Moisture or food residue at the igniter is the most common cause. Let the burner dry and clean around it when cold.
Does Wolf make a range with induction?+
Wolf's guide lists induction ranges among its range types. Tell us the model when you book.
Should I use the self-clean cycle before you visit?+
No. Leave the oven as it is so we can see the fault.
Do you repair Wolf wall ovens and steam ovens?+
Yes. Wolf's guide shows steam and speed ovens have their tag on the left of the front face frame.
