That matters for repair: the compressor is driven by a control board, so a “dead fridge” is sometimes a board or sensor problem, not the sealed system. Sealed-system work is for technicians only.

Safe checks before LG appliance repair
- Switch the appliance off at the wall before you open any panel.
- For a washer, clean the drain pump filter and run the cycle again. The washer repair page lists what else we look at.
- For a dryer, clear the lint screen and check that the vent hose is not crushed behind the machine. Never bypass the thermal fuse. More on dryer repair.

If a code comes back after these checks, stop and let us look at it. Repeated resets will not clear a failed part.

Check the manual for the exact code. Codes usually point to a drain, door or water-fill circuit, and the cause can still be a simple blockage, so clean the filter first.
Is a linear compressor harder to repair?+
The compressor itself is sealed-system work for a technician. Many fridge faults are in the fans, defrost parts, sensors or board, and those are repaired without opening the sealed system.
