Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes
Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes: find your code, try the safe step, and book if it does not clear.
This guide follows Bosch’s own US owner support page for dishwasher error codes, which lists around two dozen. We cover the 13 most common ones. Codes vary by model, and Bosch pairs each short code with a longer four-digit version. Where Bosch gives no homeowner step, we say so instead of guessing.
Before you touch anything
Reset steps below mean switching the dishwasher off at its breaker for 30 seconds, as Bosch says. Switch off before you clean a filter or touch a pump cover. If water is at the base, turn off the supply first. Never open the control module or pull the dishwasher out while it is still connected.
E01: heat pump motor circuit
Bosch lists a heat pump motor circuit fault on the main control board.
Reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds. If E01 returns, it is a service job; the board is not something to open.
E06: door sensor circuit
A fault in the door sensor circuit.
Close the door firmly and reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds. If it persists, book service.
E12: limescale in the heat pump
Limescale has built up in the heat pump.
Bosch says to descale with a Bosch descaler. If your model has a softener function, use softening salt to prevent it coming back. Hard water is common here, so this is worth knowing.
E15: water at the base
Water was detected at the base and leakage protection is active.
Turn off the water inflow. Do not run the dishwasher again until the leak has been found. Switch off the breaker if the floor is wet.
E16 or E17: water inflow problem
Water may not be entering the dishwasher.
Check that the inlet hose is not kinked or damaged and that the supply valve is open. If the code continues, service is next.
E18: water level too low
The level is too low, or the water is not being pumped correctly.
Check the inlet hose for kinks, and confirm the water supply is on. Bosch says flow should be 10 litres per minute. If that checks out and E18 stays, book service.
E19: detergent dispenser solenoid
A fault in the detergent dispenser solenoid circuit.
Reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds. If it persists, it is a repair.
E22: filter blocked with food debris
The dishwasher filter is clogged.
Take the filter out, rinse it under running water with mild soap and a soft brush, and put it back. This is the one most people can fix in five minutes.
E23: drain pump blocked or faulty
Bosch lists the drain pump as blocked, clogged or faulty.
No homeowner fix is listed. Switch the dishwasher off and let it be inspected.
E24: not draining, filter blocked
Water is not draining because the drain filter is blocked.
Check that the inlet hose is not kinked, then take the filter out and make sure the pump cover is not loose. If the drain hose joins a garbage disposal, Bosch says to check the plug has been removed from the disposal’s dishwasher port.
E25: drain pump blocked or cover loose
The drain pump is blocked, or its cover is loose or missing.
Remove the filter and check that the pump cover is secure. If the pump is blocked, Bosch says to remove the cover and clear debris and standing water, watching for sharp pieces such as broken glass. Switch off first.
E27: household power too low
The supply voltage is too low.
Reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds. If it recurs, Bosch says to have an electrician check the incoming voltage.
H01, h02 and so on: not an error
A start delay is set. H01 means one hour, h02 two hours.
Press the plus or minus button under the 4 key until h:00 appears to cancel it.
When to call a technician
If a code comes back after the steps above, or the manufacturer’s page says it needs service, our technician can come to your home. Start with our dishwasher repair page, or book a visit (you can also call us). The service call is $80, and the repair price is quoted after the technician has looked at the machine.
We service Bosch and other major brands; see Bosch appliance repair. Top Town is an independent repair company, not affiliated with or authorized by Bosch.

Questions about bosch dishwasher error codes
Do Bosch dishwasher codes have two versions?+
Yes. Bosch's page pairs the short code with a longer one, for example E16 and E17 with E3300 and E3400, depending on the model. Both mean the same thing.
What does Bosch say to do for a code that is not on the page?+
The page directs you to Bosch Customer Support, with your model number ready.
Does an E code always mean the dishwasher is broken?+
No. E22 is a blocked filter, E12 is limescale, and H01 only shows that a start delay is set.
